Minocycline Hydrochloride Capsules Mincocyline is in a group of antibiotics call tetracyclines prescribed by veterinarians to treat a range of gram-positive infections. Prescription Minocycline works by stopping the growth of bacteria in the body, which slows and eventually stops the infection. Minocycline is particularly potent because its a broad-spectrum treatment effective against many bacterial infections in dogs and cats including:

• Urinary tract infections
• Respiratory infections
• Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever
• Lyme Disease
• Skin infections
• Tick Fever (Ehrlichiosis)

Minocycline can also be prescribed in pets to treat:

Dogs:

• Soft tissue infections
• Brucellosis
• Ehrlichiosis

Cats:

• Hemotropic mycoplasmosis
• Nocardosis

Minocycline has few side effects other than some gastrointestinal effects such as nausea and vomiting. To minimize GI effects, Minocycline should be taken with food. This medication may be given to dogs and cats with renal insufficiency. Talk to your pet’s veterinarian about drug interactions Minocycline may have with other medications your pet is taking.
