Marquis Antiprotozoal Oral Paste for Horses

Marquis is used to treat equine protozoal myeloencephalitis (EPM) caused by Sarcocystis neurona. Dose and Administration: Always follow the dosage instructions provided by your veterinarian. If you have difficulty giving the medication, contact your veterinarian. Marquis 15% Oral Paste contains the ingredient ponazuril. It is an anticoccidial (antiprotozoal) compound that kill the Sarcocystis.Each tube of Marquis will treat a 1200 lb horse for seven days. Precautions:
Not for use in horses hypersensitive (allergic) to ponazuril. Before treating, other conditions that could cause the same signs as EPM, such as incoordination, should be ruled out. The safety of ponazuril in breeding, pregnant, or lactating horses has not been determined. Use only unless benefits outweigh the risks. Consult with your veterinarian regarding the physical examinations and laboratory testing necessary prior to and during treatment with ponazuril.
